SENSELESS WARS AND CONFLICTS

As Perceived by a Combat Veteran
I am not an anti-war veteran, just a veteran against wars that are not necessary. Most wars are senseless wars. Afterall, who starts conflicts? Who benefits from wars being fought? The costs are high, both in human lives and in money spent. But one thing remains true. While poor men die in conflict, the rich elite thrive. This book is a collection of my Vietnam War memoirs from 1969 to 1970. It is also a reflection on wars the U.S. fought or has been involved in since World War II. After years in combat, you will never be able to unsee the horror of civilians and soldiers losing their lives. It does not matter how big the war is if you are fighting for your life, it is life changing. Although we might defeat the enemy militarily, the countries we think we?ve helped always return to being what they were before the war.

Info Autor

Born into a large working-class family in Alton, Illinois, Dave Emmons always had a fascination with the military. From playing cowboy games to interacting with soldiers like his WWII veteran dad, Dave's military interest was ignited at a young age. He always felt being a soldier in the U.S. Army was admirable and brave, and he didn't hesitate to enlist with his brother once he became of age. He attended advanced training for nuclear weapons training at Red Stone Arsenal before serving in the Vietnam War as a platoon sergeant. A few years after the war, Dave decided to return to the workforce. He attended college and played music with his five brothers. He's held several jobs between his hometown and Chicago, as well as a stint in journalism school before retiring and writing about his experiences.
